Home Security Windows

Next to your doors, the windows are the most vulnerable entrance point to your house that can provide access to burglars. It is therefore necessary that you install additional home security for windows if you want to really protect you and your loved ones from break-ins. This article will discuss some of the home security devices for windows that you can use.

One of the most basic security devices for windows that you can install in your windows are window bars. Window bars essentially make it impossible for other people to go through your house through the window. However, if you feel that your windows should be used as an exit for emergency situations, you can probably install foldable grills that can be secured with a padlock.

Another basic home security device for windows are window locks. They are way better than window levers in securing the window to prevent access from the outside. Deadbolt locks are perfect for windows since they can be only be turned using a key so they are not likely to be pried from the outside.

Any window lock can easily be rendered useless if a burglar breaks the glass of the window. Some people do not prefer window bars as they are not good to look at and can destroy the aesthetic style of the house. A way to go around this is by using a special type of alarm that can be used as a basic home security device for windows which is called a glass break detector. Glass break detectors can sense the frequency or a thump of a breaking glass. The disadvantage is that other high frequency sounds can also trigger the alarm, making it annoying at times.

Last but not the least home window security that you can use are storm windows. They are made of reinforced glass that has two layers that do not break when they are hit. They cannot only protect you from burglar attempts, they can also withstand natural disasters like earthquakes and storms. With a storm windows, glass break detectors and window bars are not necessary anymore, although you still need to use a decent window lock so that it is still properly secure.
